Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of purified water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, engineered as a universal diluent for the reconstitution, dilution, and preservation of lyophilized laboratory peptides and research compounds.

The chemical matrix consists of USP-grade purified water solubilized with benzyl alcohol. The inclusion of benzyl alcohol acts as a bacteriostatic preservative, inhibiting the growth and proliferation of most susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi, allowing for multiple withdrawals from a single laboratory vial over a 28-day shelf life post-reconstitution.
